Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is an assessment of the resident required before move?
An assessment is required before a person can move into the community. This assessment takes into consideration the physician's report, medical history and the evaluation of our assisted living director.

2. What test is mandatory before moving in?
A TB test within the last six months is required before move in.

3. Who owns Marymount Greenhills?
The owners of Greenhills are local people and this is their 1st assisted living community they started. They opened another community in San Leandro.

4. Is there a religious affiliation with the community?
We are a non-denominational community with no religious affiliation.

5. What is included in the monthly rent?
One monthly rent includes housing, 1 meal, and all utilities except phone and cable.

6. If the resident needs medication management, who orders it for them?
Ordering medication is included in medication management.

7. Before a resident moves in, do they need a power of attorney and a DNR(Do Not Resuscitate) form?
A durable power of attorney and do not resuscitate order are a good idea but are not necessary prior to move in.

8. Can we move in on the weekends?
Yes, we do move people in on weekends.

9. Do you provide temporary or short-term stays?
Yes, we provide short-term and respite stays.

10. Can we bring our own belongings?
Residents are encouraged to bring their own belongings so they can feel at home.

11. What if we can't get furniture in time for the move in?
We do have furnished apartments for residents who are waiting for furniture to arrive.

12. Is there a Physician on staff?
While our staff receives extensive on-the-job training, and our caregivers are all CNAs, we do not employ any licensed medical practitioners.

13. Are all 3 meals included?
Independent residents receive one meal a day in the basic package. Plans are available for all meals. Assisted living residents receive all three meals plus snacks.

14. Is there a variety of meals provided?
Residents have a choice of entrees with each meal.

15. If we start off as independent residents, do we have to move to another apartment once we need assisted living?
No, we do not segregate independent from assisted living. Residents may remain in their own apartments as their needs progress from independent through our four levels of assisted care.

16. Do you offer a hospice waiver?
Yes, we do have a hospice waiver.

17. Do you offer 24hr care?
Yes, however, if a resident requires 24 hour nursing services a transfer to a skilled nursing facility is required.

18. Do you provide transportation if I get discharged from a nearby hospital?
Yes, we do provide transportation from the hospital to Marymount Greenhills.

19. My loved one still smokes is there a smoking section?
We do have a smoking section outside. Smoking is not allowed in common areas.

20. Is there an emergency pull cord in each apartment?
Yes, there are at least two emergency pull cords in each apartment.

21. Do you have "shared" apartments?
Yes, we do have a few units designated for shared accommodations.

22. Is there parking available at the facility?
We have ample parking for residents who are still driving and for their guests.

23. How often is housekeeping?
Apartments are cleaned weekly for our independent residents, and on a daily basis for our residents on assisted living.

24. Is there exercise programs and social activity for all types of residents?
We have a comprehensive program of activities to address the body, mind and spirit of our residents regardless of their level of care, including music, outings, and educational talks.

25. Is there a resident meeting to voice out concerns?
Our Resident Council meets every month to determine ways in which the community can be made more comfortable and enjoyable to live in.
